WHY POPE LEO AND THE BISHOPS ACT AS THEY DO

Their pro-LGBTQ stance is not inconsequential

If I grew up in a home in which I witnessed my father abusing my mother, might I, after I marry, likewise be abusive toward my wife? So many of our problems as adults stem from childhood experiences. While some people become alcoholics after being raised in a home where one or both parents were addicted to alcohol, other people, traumatized by that childhood experience, never touch a drop of alcohol. This pattern also applies to clerics, including popes, bishops, and priests, who were sexually groomed/abused before they were ordained, often in Roman Catholic seminaries.

I know two priests who are brothers, about five years apart, who were both sexually abused when they were young. One priest went on to abuse teenage boys, as he was abused around the same age, before later being reported and removed from ministry. His younger brother, although having developed a homosexual orientation like many sex abuse victims, would never even think of preying on teenage boys, as 73% of homosexual men report doing.

As I distinguished in my article, “Predator, Homosexual, or Both?” some clerics are predators who prey on minors and/or vulnerable adults without engaging in consensual homosexual relations with adult gays; some clerics are homosexuals who engage in consensual relations with other gay men without preying on minors and or/vulnerable adults; and some clerics engage in both consenual and non-consenual sex as both homosexuals and predators.

Omaha Archbishop George Lucas was reported for being both a predator, who preyed on vulnerable seminarians (one who filed a lawsuit against him in St. Louis), and a homosexual who, as recorded in court documents, was reported for engaging in sex with consenting adults at a gay orgy in his Springfield episcopal residence. My diocesan classmate, who was ordained with me, was also a predator who preyed on altar boys and a homosexual who was reported to have engaged in consensual sex with fellow priest faculty members and seminarians at the North American College when he was the Academic Dean.

Popes and bishops who are closeted predators, homosexuals, or both, are far more inclined than heterosexual prelates to be supportive of documents like Fiducia Supplicans that allow for the blessing of same-sex couples. Now that most Roman (not Greek) Catholic clergy outside of Africa, India, and a few other countries today are homosexuals, why should one be surprised when one reads news reports about their support of various pro-LGBTQ undertakings?

Pro-family lay Catholics, who support the Catholic Church’s teachings on homosexual behavior as against the natural and divine laws, need to look at the current State of the Roman Catholic Church through the eyes of their gay bishops and priests. Unfortunately, the pro-LGBTQ media has not reported many of the findings of researchers like Father Dariusz Oko, Father Paul Sullins, Swiss Bishop Marian Eleganti, and the late psychotherapist Richard Sipe, who confirm a link between clerical sexual abuse and the large percentage of homosexual Catholic clergy.

Owing to the cover provided by the media, closeted gay clergy are hopeful that, in time, Catholics will accept homosexual relationships as moral as the life-giving union between a married husband and wife. These homosexual bishops, priests, and seminarians feel that the German Synodal Way’s support for sacramentalized same-sex marriages is a precursor that will lead to a change in the Catholic Church’s teaching on homosexuality. Prelates like Washington Cardinal Robert McElroy, Luxembourg Cardinal Jean-Claude Hollerich, Jesuit Father James Martin, along with other perceived homosexual clerics, have all advocated “to change the Church’s teaching on the morality of same-sex sexual acts.”

The attempt to convince Catholics that sodomy, after 4,000 years, is now all of a sudden acceptable, healthy, and normal was revealed when Pope Leo was asked by a reporter whether the Church might change its teaching on homosexuality. Like Pope Francis, who said, “Who am I to judge?” when asked about the promiscuous homosexual behavior of his close friend, Msgr. Battista Ricca, Leo did not say that the teaching on homosexuality, like the teaching on adultery, could not change. What he said, however, was, “People [including closeted gay clergy] want church doctrine to change, want attitudes to change. I think we have to change attitudes before we even think about changing what the church says about any given question.”

Is the Pope saying that the Church’s doctrinal teaching on homosexuality can change if enough gay and lesbian synodal Church members find homosexual behavior to be morally acceptable? The truth is that moral norms regarding sexuality are grounded in divine and natural law. Consequently, Church doctrine cannot be altered merely by popular consensus, demographic shifts, or synodal voting, regardless of changing cultural attitudes.

Insofar as Pope Leo, like his predecessor, has appointed many pro-LGBTQ bishops perceived to be homosexuals, this would appear to validate gay French writer and sociologist Frederic Martel’s conclusions, contained in his 2019 work, In the Closet of the Vatican: Power, Homosexuality, Hypocrisy, that over 80% of the clergy in the Vatican are homosexuals. Closeted homosexual Brazilian Bishop Vicente de Paula Tavares, appointed to the Diocese of Gergis in 2024 when Pope Leo headed the Dicastery for Bishops, recently said that the devil is “imaginary” and that Catholics should rather “exorcise homophobia and racism.”

Because studies show that almost 75% of U.S. Catholics support same-sex marriage and the social acceptance of homosexuality, it is clear that the disproportionate number of gay bishops and priests have allowed Catholic laity to slowly forsake biblical teachings, like a frog placed in cool water, which is slowly boiled alive. Is the Synod on Synodality nothing more than a vehicle to get the Church slowly and unknowingly to conform to the zeitgeist, or current “spirit of the age”?

Many closeted gay priests who advertise “All Are Welcome” in their church bulletins and websites are hopeful that the Catholic Church, under the leadership of homosexual popes and bishops, will help bring about a change in Church teaching and an acceptance of the behavior many of them have engaged in both before and after their ordination. If this were to happen, the Catholic Church would be no different than the Episcopal Church and other Protestant Churches that ordain active gay and lesbian bishops, priests, and ministers.

Most traditional Catholics, many with large families, including members of the Society of St. Pius X (SSPX), oppose the acceptance of homosexual behavior and the LGBTQ agenda. Consequently, it should not come as a surprise that they have either been excommunicated or limited in their access to the Traditional Latin Mass (TLM) by the current homosexual leadership in the Church. I have yet to discover one diocese, shepherded by a straight bishop, whose policies support Pope Francis’ apostolic letter, Traditionis Custodes, that limits the celebration of the Traditional Latin Mass (TLM).

Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò has called out the synodal Church for using LGBTQ events and figures like James Martin to legitimize and effectively “canonize” homosexuality, even among the clergy. From his perspective, Pope Leo and his fellow homosexual prelates and priests will continue in their attempts to get Catholics to accept homosexual behavior as normal and moral as the love shared in marriage between a husband and wife.

As long as Pope Leo continues to appoint more and more closeted homosexual bishops who feel empowered by him to endorse pro-LGBTQ initiatives in dioceses like Providence, Monterey, Cincinnati, San Bernardino, and San Diego, one should not be surprised that Church attendance will continue to decrease, as has occurred in most mainline Protestant Churches that advertise, “All Are Welcome.” Because Leo continues to cover up the abuse of over 160 credibly accused bishops, one should anticipate more abuse lawsuits and church closures to help pay for settlements, which would total over $25 billion if all states were to lift their statute of limitations for sexual abuse cases.

Based on transcripts of homilies and talks given by many bishops and priests today, one question that practicing Catholics have to answer is whether they, their children, and their grandchildren are slowly “being boiled like frogs” in dioceses and parishes shepherded by bishops and priests, many of whom are neither straight nor celibate.
